Mindfulness Painting Experience is hosting an 8-week course for MSWs, LCSWs, Therapists, Coaches & healers. Mindfulness Painting is an intuitive and intentional inquiry into one’s own internal landscape. The approach is focused on painting using intuition, creative freedom, and the act of spontaneous expression. As the clinician begins the journey of painting, they learn to become mindful by slowing down the breath and focusing on presence. The act of being mindful creates a resting place for the body and the mind thus opening the creative channel. The clinician develops an experiential understanding of the relationship between the inner critic and their resistance and/or blocked emotions. This resistance is a dance in the process of individuation of self. The intensity of the inner critic is announcing that you are coming close to something that you don’t recognize.
Seven principles of painting mindfully with discussion over the course of the 8 weeks of the principles are included 1) Not Knowing; 2) Listening; 3) Respecting; 4) Following Your Intuition; 5) Working With Difficulty; 7) Not Interpreting the Story; and 8) Completion.
